POSITION
The French American International School is looking for an excellent, engaged, native French speaking teacher to join our dynamic team. The teacher will teach the French National curriculum to primary school aged children. The teacher will need to be able to adjust the curriculum to the French level and cognitive needs of each child and provide a wide range of materials for the varying French levels of students. They will need to possess a familiarity with many ways of approaching a subject, willingness to develop one’s own materials and be open to learning new ways. Due to the diverse nature of our School, the teacher will need to be sensitive and open to the multiple cultural backgrounds of the students, to be collaborative and exhibit a sense of internationalism in the work environment.
FOCUS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create a nurturing, safe classroom community with, and for, students
- Plan and teach the French National curriculum to primary school age children in a bilingual setting with a team teacher and a larger bilingual team
- Work closely with other French and English faculty and staff on multiple bilingual projects
- Adapt to the bilingual environment and teaching methods of the school
- Provide skill concentration (French language across the curriculum, History, Science and Math taught in French) that would be an addition to the faculty’s talent pool and enrich the school
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests
- Provide continuous student assessment, mid-year and end-of-year progress reports, and hold parent-teacher conferences twice a year
- Attend regular meetings as needed
- Successfully complete other professional responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field
- Teaching credential or equivalent degree
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience
- Native fluency in French and mastery of English required
