JOB TITLE: Upper School French Teacher – Part Time
REPORTS TO: Department Chair, World Languages

The Athenian School is an independent college preparatory boarding and day school that serves students in grades 6 – 12, from throughout the East Bay, California, the US and the world. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Athenian School seeks a part-time Upper School French teacher with experience teaching all levels of high school French instruction to begin August 1, 2022. Candidates will also be drawn to meaningfully contribute to finding ways to express Athenian’s Pillars in our classrooms: Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership, Service. In addition to instruction, teachers at Athenian are expected to participate in community life through a variety of programs, events, and opportunities.
In addition to these responsibilities, faculty have the chance to apply for and serve as part of our residential life team which would include dormitory housing. Faculty also have the opportunity to coach a sport for a supplemental stipend.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
We seek candidates who are fluent in French and English with previous Upper School teaching experience, knowledge of French literature and culture, and a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates must also have a passion for working with adolescents and a commitment to democracy, justice, equity, inclusion, service, and environmental stewardship.
