The After School Care Director is primarily responsible for providing a safe and well-supervised afterschool program. This includes hiring, training and supervising employees; supervising and interacting with students and parents, scheduling enrichment classes, and monitoring the enrollment and budget. This position works collaboratively with the Educational Cooperative to ensure a safe and financially viable program. The Director must have a genuine interest in the growth, development, and provision of a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for the students they work with.

The Director’s ability to establish collaboration through leadership, communication, and most importantly patience, will be required to provide a safe and nurturing environment. The Director is responsible for engaging with students in a learning environment, establishing a positive rapport with students and their parents, and co-workers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Management:

Actively engage with students, volunteers, staff, and families/caregivers.
Lead and supervise small and large groups by recognizing potential issues and using the Agreement System as needed.
Accurately complete incident reports, attendance, receipts, and other program-related materials.
Identify student needs and communicate to the after school team, classroom teachers, and families/caregivers as needed.
Evaluate the program to suggest improvement, needs, hazards, and/or trends to the Co-op and/or Admin team for further evaluation.
Help students with homework/study when applicable.
Responsible for immediately reporting and documenting any and all injuries or incidents utilizing the Student Incident Report for notification to families/caregivers.
Demonstrate reliability and punctuality by arriving on time.
Attendance and participation at all required staff meetings, training, and development activities.
Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in staff and student matters.
Adherence to all Synergy policies and procedures.
Computer skills
Any additional duties related to the after school program.
Budget and Finance

Track student attendance for billing purposes.
Provide information to the Business Manager for Extended Care invoices.
Review and approve program staff timesheets, via payroll management system.
Work with the DFO and/or Admin team to review annual budget to determine program financial goals.

Communication

Post monthly After School newsletter via school’s communication platform.
Provide timely response to family/caregivers questions and concerns.

Requirements

First Aid/CPR training
At least 2 years experience working with children
Supervisory experience
Must be able to lift 25 lbs

Preferred Skills

Commitment to progressive educational practices
Understanding developmental stages and needs for children from 4 years of age through early adolescence
Experience working with neurodiverse learners
Willingness to fulfill co-op duties
Interest in being a part of TK-8 learning community
Strong organizational and collaborative skills
BA degree preferred
