Position Summary

Santa Catalina School, a nationally recognized PreK-12 independent Catholic school in Monterey, California, is currently seeking a full-time creative, energetic, dedicated, and results-oriented Development Assistant. Under the supervision of the Director of Development, the Assistant is responsible for office management and works closely with all development team members to ensure the effective execution of projects, that donations are acknowledged and recognized appropriately, and that day-to-day tasks for all team members are supported. The Development Assistant provides support for all fundraising activities.

Essential Responsibilities

·         Execute all gift processing, pledge reminders, addressing errors, recurring gift handling, and acknowledgment letters for all donations received

·         Manage correspondence for the development team

·         Collaborate to maintain the integrity of the donor database with accurate and updated information and assist with database maintenance efforts

·         Acquire ongoing training on Raiser’s Edge good practices as needed to ensure the database is managed as effectively as possible

·         Assist the development team in planning and executing development activities and events, including but not limited to preparing guest lists, working with vendors, and campus facilities personnel, taking RSVPs, creating name tags, staffing events, and facilitating event follow-up

·         Help ensure a positive experience for event attendees

·         Assist in the organization and mailing of annual stewardship reports for major donors

·         Maintain a three-year calendar for institutional development planning

·         Maintain the vendor and subscription list

·         Track foundation proposal deadlines

·         Oversee day-to-day development office needs, including, but not limited to, inventory control, constituent record updates, and deposit and filing/scanning processes

Qualifications

·         A bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., nonprofit management) is preferred

·         At least two years of experience in an administrative assistant role, preferably in a nonprofit or fundraising setting

·         Experience working with a database; Raiser’s Edge experience a plus

·         Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive

·         Ability to maintain complete confidentiality in working with donor information

·         A commitment to the mission and identity of Santa Catalina School

·         A desire to participate fully in the Santa Catalina community

·         Successful completion of a LiveScan criminal background check as required by law

Working Conditions and Compensation

·         Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods each day

·         Ability to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, standing, bending over, crouching, sitting, reaching, driving (a cart) for extended periods, and needing to lift up to 50 lbs.

·         Salary Range: $23-27 an hour depending on experience
