Position Title: Part-Time Digital Arts and Photography Teacher

Full-time/Part-time: Part-time (3 sections Fall 2023 and 4 sections Spring 2024)

Classification: Exempt

Reports to: Vice Principal of Curriculum and Instruction

Salary Scale: $50,000-$68,000 (First year salary will be prorated depending on actual start date)

We are a collaborative, creative and progressive department that strives for excellence in Art education. We expose students to the artists and visionaries who have shaped the art for centuries, while helping them explore and define their own forms of artistic expression.  As teachers we seek to create dynamic and engaging learning environments and assignments and meaningful connections with students through culturally responsive projects and lessons.

Position Summary

As a member of our Visual and Performing Arts Department, the Digital Arts and Photography Teacher will instruct students in digital arts and photography.

 

Duties and Specific Responsibilities

Model for students the Catholic mission and values of Presentation High School
Demonstrate subject matter competency and the ability to communicate that to high school students
Devise a system of classroom order and discipline which contributes to the learning of all students
Create meaningful connections with students through culturally responsive teaching.
Develop dynamic and engaging lesson plans and assignments using Universal Design for Learning and other engaging pedagogical strategies.
Model a spirit of innovation, creativity and intellectual curiosity.
Be available to students who need assistance
Exercise professionalism at all times with students, parents, and colleagues
Participate in professional development activities of the subject area, pedagogy and technology
Education & Experience

●      Degree in Art with a Single-Subject Teaching Credential and/or Master’s Degree in Art or a related field.

●      Relevant teaching experience, preferably 5 or more years at the high school level.

●      Extensive knowledge of full Adobe Creative Suite; In Design, Illustrator, PhotoShop and Lightroom.

●      Proven digital photography experience with a strong portfolio.

●      Prefer graphic design background and film editing experience.

●      Available and willing to work occasional co-curricular events, including overnight field trips.

The Part-Time Digital Arts & Photography Teacher must be able to

●      Lift and/or carry moderate weight of 10 pounds

●      Sit, stand, walk, climb stairs or ladder, reach, perform repetitive hand motions

●      Considerable time is spent at a desk using a computer terminal.

●      Work with frequent interruptions
