We find great strength in multiple perspectives and embrace every opportunity to weave diversity in thought and action into our social, emotional, and academic lives.

Job Description:

The Middle School History Teacher will have a strong foundation in history content including ancient civilizations, world history, and US history. At Redwood Day, our history curriculum is grounded and informed by some of the following essential questions: Why do civilizations rise and fall? How does culture spread? What happens when cultures clash? Why do multiple perspective matter? How does this relate today? How can diversity lead to a union?  We are seeking candidates who are fundamentally curious about the lessons and perspectives in history and who will inspire students to engage in their own critical inquiry. This teacher will partner closely with the other middle school history teacher to develop and curate a comprehensive, effective, and cohesive 6-8th grade history curriculum. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with middle school students and appreciate the opportunity to work with this age-group that is experiencing lots of transitions in three short years. They will also be a strong collaborator with other teachers and community members, and have a strong commitment to meeting the learning needs of each student, a teaching style that supports differentiated instruction, and an interest in building a community.

As a teacher in the Middle School, this individual will also serve as an advisor, facilitate an elective activity, and participate in various student and community activities and professional development. Additional responsibilities include active involvement in collaborative teacher meetings, supervisory duties, and accompanying students on an annual outdoor education trip.
