POSITION
The High School Dean of Students is responsible for the management and delivery of student support services in the high school. He/She reports directly to the High School Principal and works in close collaboration with the student advisors, college and personal counselors, academic program coordinators, faculty and support staff. High School Dean of Students serves as a member of the administrative team and is involved in many aspects of program delivery and management. Assignment will vary considerably including, but not limited to: student discipline, student attendance tracking and intervention, student support team coordination, student scheduling coordination, student leadership and activities coordination, instructional programs support, policy development and implementation.
FOCUS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Implements and manages an effective student attendance accountability system, ensuring that faculty provides accurate attendance data
- Addresses all disciplinary referrals and consequences, writing relevant incident reports
- Works with the High School Coordinator to generate report cards and follows up as needed.
- Communicates with families, students and faculty regarding student pastoral care, social issues, wellness, field trips and overseas trips as needed
- Coordinates and implements a student advisory and wellness program
- Assists the Assistant Principal in establishing the master schedule
- Takes a leading role in monitoring and improving student conduct on campus and in the neighborhood.
- Actively monitors hallways and common areas during breaks, recess and after school, and supervises hallway monitors/surveillants. Is responsible for the cleanliness of MPR5 after lunch.
- Coordinates and supervises the study hall program and administration of test make-ups
- Attends the High School Council, Academic Committee Meeting, Conseils de Classe and other meetings or evening events as needed
- Helps organize and coordinate the beginning of the year Freshman retreat and other student life events as needed
- Prepares with the Assistant Principal all the data pertaining to class lists and grouping of classes before entering in scheduling software.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the High School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field; Master’s in Education or Education leadership desirable
- Previous 9-12 grade teaching experience, some previous administrative and leadership experience in a school setting
- Conversational knowledge of French and mastery of English required
- Working knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment/software
- High regard for confidentiality
- Excellent human relations to convey information to parents, students, faculty, staff and other institutions in a friendly, consistent and clear manner.
- A good sense of humor
- Must be a self starter capable of assessing what needs to be done and establishing necessary steps to accomplish
