Lick-Wilmerding High School

Lick-Wilmerding High School seeks a full-time Mandarin Teacher sabbatical replacement for the spring semester 2019. (100% FTE with benefits)

Responsibilities:

  • Teach 4 sections of Chinese courses (Levels 3 and 4 Honors) with 2 preps beginning mid-January 2019 and ending June 2019. Classes meet every other day for 75 minute blocks.
  • Attend all faculty, department, and professional development meetings.
  • Be available to students for individual help outside of class during the school day.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of three years teaching experience at the high school level.
  • Native or near-native fluency in Chinese.
  • A deep knowledge of Chinese language and Chinese culture.
  • Experience teaching accelerated/honors or AP courses.
  • Familiarity with student-centered approaches to teaching language.

We seek teachers who are committed to differentiated instruction and can help students with diverse learning styles and educational backgrounds achieve the goals and objectives of the curriculum, and who are committed to equitable teaching practices in the classroom. In addition, we are looking for teachers who are energetic, passionate about teaching and learning, flexible and great collaborators.

Successful teaching candidates will have developed a thoughtful teaching practice, have three years of teaching experience at a minimum, have earned a teaching credential, masters degree, or equivalent experience, and know that teachers at the high school level serve as role models and educators both inside and outside the classroom. A love of high school students, flexibility, and a sense of humor are required.
