Trainee Teacher

Birmingham, United Kingdom

My name is Natalia Levermore I am a current Teaching Student (PGCE in the UK) set to finish my course this July. I have already obtained my bachelor’s degree in Sociology 2023 and recently have been looking into employment in the states in education, as a J1 (visa) trainee. I would also like to clarify; I would take full control of the visa process If I were to be successful. I wanted to highlight that I am eligible for the J-1 Trainee visa, which allows me to work in the US through a structured training programme. This visa does not require employer sponsorship in the traditional sense — instead, it involves a training plan developed collaboratively with a designated sponsor organisation.

I am a current student teacher in the United Kingdom who is hoping to culturally enrich my professional experience by living/working in the USA to broaden my vocational horizons. I am writing to express my interest in this position as I believe as a UK national, I would be an assist to your school due to my eagerness of supporting children’s learning and development. Through my work in schools and specialist care settings, I have developed strong skills in supporting diverse learners, particularly children with special educational needs. I am a particularly curious and open-minded person who can take on any challenge headfirst and completing willing to learn along the way, hence my choice to relocate to the United States. I am particularly drawn to working in San Francisco due to its diverse school communities and progressive inclusive ethos. I would welcome the opportunity to contribute my skills. Enthusiasm, and international perspective to your teams while continuing to grow as an educator. In my teaching experience so far, I have created engaging and creative lessons that are fun for the children whilst aligning with the National Curriculum standards here in the UK. In addition, I find myself as an educator easy to create bonds and professional relationships with staff and the children in a collaborative supportive environment.

I have strong experience in a UK school-based environment as a 121 teacher, teaching assistant and now trainee teacher therefore I am extremely curious to how a US school may operate in comparison, hence my enquiry into your school. I work mostly in mainstream school, but my background stretches to supporting children with special educational needs, severe autism, emotional and high support needs.

My PGCE has provided me with valuable hands-on experience in the classroom, allowing me to develop my confidence, adaptability, and understanding of effective teaching. I have learned the importance of responsive teaching, differentiation, and fostering a positive learning environment. This experience has strengthened my commitment to supporting every child’s academic and personal development. This far in my PGCE I have taught in grade 1st, 2nd and 4th grade.

During my PGCE, I have developed a solid understanding of effective teaching practice, including lesson planning, behaviour management, and assessment for learning. I have successfully delivered lessons across a range of subjects, ensuring they are accessible and engaging for all pupils. I am committed to creating a classroom environment that is inclusive, supportive, and inspiring for every learner.
I am particularly interested in your organisation due to your school’s emphasis on providing academic excellence that feels attainable. I greatly admire your school’s proactive approach to anti-racism and diversity. My own experience as a black individual from an international background allows me to bring authentic perspective and cultural awareness into the classroom. I believe this enables me to support pupils in developing empathy, respect, and a broader understanding of the world. This aligns with my personal teaching values tenfold, as I believe supporting children’s development as much as possible. I would love the opportunity to contribute to the lower school teaching associate role, as I am confident in my abilities to be an asset to your school. I have worked with ages 5-7 training as a teacher and working as a TA. Currently, I am on placement at university with a 4th grade class teaching 32 children from diverse backgrounds, creating lessons plans in accordance with the national curriculum.

However I welcome any student focused role, I am currently exploring options through a J1 trainee visa and would be very interested to discuss current or upcoming positions. I am visiting the Bay Area this coming May so would be lovely to meet and talk with you then if at all possible!
Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I would greatly appreciate to hear from you and connect further. Please find my attached.

Thank you
Kind Regards,
Natalia Levermore
