Internship and Service Learning Coordinator

Start date in January or February 2024

 

The Nueva School seeks applications for an Internships and Service Learning (CSL) Coordinator working in the Upper School (Grades 9-12). This person will lead, coordinate and organize a robust and well-established Internship program, along with fostering and growing an intentional culture of community service with Upper School students. Candidates should embrace the culture of innovation encouraged at Nueva and possess a radical imagination, an inquisitive spirit, a can-do attitude, and interest in working with gifted students.

General Responsibilities

  • Develop emerging service learning opportunities for US students
    Work with faculty to prepare students for CSL-oriented field trips
    Liaise with the Academic Council (discipline leads) to envision the role of CSL in academic disciplines and coursework
    Develop relationships with local community partners
    Support individual student-led CSL activities on-campus and off-campus
    Meet with Nueva Parent Association volunteer/CSL planning team
    Scheduling CSL-oriented field trips and learning opportunities
    Revisit Task Force recommendations and consider implementing recommendations when appropriate
    Work with Task Force to revise and envision future opportunities
    Oversee a CSL budget
    Coordinate with StuCo and club leaders to develop and support CSL opportunities
    Collaborate with Equity and Inclusion team, Environmental Citizenship teams, SEL, and I-Lab/Quest teams to develop opportunities for CSL programs and internships
    Collaborate with the Internship Parent Committee to obtain internship opportunities and to market the program.
    Represent Nueva and work with potential and actual employers.
    Maintain the internship database (Airtable) and program websites.
    Coach and support students as they develop LinkedIn profiles, resumes, and cover letters.
    Teach students interviewing skills, decision-making processes, email etiquette, workplace behavior/etiquette, and how to interact with employers.
    Ensure that government-required forms are completed and filed.
    Develop and implement the annual division-wide Internship Expo.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
    Successful teaching experience at high school level highly desired
    Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    A profound openness to feedback and improvement, modeling lifelong learning of practice as well as subject area.
    Flexibility and creativity in working in a dynamic environment where new ideas, mistakes, and iteration are embraced.

Compensation

The full-time salary range for this staff position is from $65,000 – $90,000. The starting salary is based upon, but not limited to, several factors that include type and years of creditable experience, education level, and expertise.
