Director of Technology

 

The Nueva School is searching for a Director of Technology. As a member of the school’s extended leadership team reporting to the Associate Head of School, the Director will supervise and manage a team of information and education technology professionals and consulting and managed services partners to lead and elevate every aspect of technology and data in support of the academic and administrative capabilities and experiences of the school.

Primary Responsibilities

Technology Leadership

●      Innovation – Anticipate, evaluate existing, create new, and recommend best practice current and emerging technology and data solutions to address school, division, department, instructional, and administrative needs and goals of the school. Sustain and elevate the school’s role as a widely recognized industry innovator and leader locally, regionally, and nationally.

●      Leadership – Lead development of technology and data related goals in partnership with the leadership and extended leadership teams and aligned with school, division, department, instructional, and individual needs and goals.

●      Management – Oversee planning, implementation, outsourcing, integration, maintenance, and ongoing operations of technology and data resources and life cycles, including but not limited to personnel, partners, facilities, equipment, software, services, data records, and finances (including capital and operating budgets and purchasing). Collaborate with colleagues and partners managing data in key functions including but not limited to academics, admissions, business, counseling, development, health, and registrar records.

●      Integrity, Integration, and Security – Ensure appropriate, accessible, efficient, and effective data and cyber integrity, integration, security, back up, recovery, and periodic audits within and across the school’s divisions, departments, colleagues, community, and partners.

●      Education and Training – Offer technology education and support internally and via partners for colleagues, students, and parents. Evolve and elevate our computing; digital social, emotional and citizenship; and artificial intelligence education programs, policies, and practices.

Community and Culture Leadership

●      Customer Service – Foster a cohesive, high-performing, and superlative customer service mindset and team.

●      Communication and Collaboration – Develop, define, document, and communicate collaboratively expectations, policies and practices, performance, and education needs and opportunities.

Qualifications

Technology

●      Knowledgeable about trends in technology, education, educational technology, data, standards, and best practices and principles.

●      Highly proficient in network design and maintenance.

●      Highly proficient in cybersecurity design, data encryption, secured networked devices and systems, and intrusion mitigations.

●      Highly proficient in managing technical support, education technologists, web programmers, consultants, and outsourced managed service providers.

●      Highly proficient in end-user support & support management.

●      Proficient in backup systems as well as disaster recovery and incident response processes.

●      Proficient in wireless networking design and maintenance.

●      Proficient in classroom, workspace, performance, presentation, remote, and personal  technologies.

●      Highly proficient in education SaaS platforms (e.,g. Google Apps for Education, Blackbaud, Canvas, Raisers Edge, Ravenna, etc.). Experience with SaaS integrations and SSO.

●      Proficient in Windows and MAC OS servers and workstations.

●      Proficient in end-user applications (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator & Photoshop, iMovie, GarageBand, Audacity, MS Office, etc.)

Compensation and Benefits

The Director of Technology is a 12-month full-time position starting 7/1/24 or as negotiated. The full-time equivalent salary range for this position is $150,000-$180,000. The starting salary is based upon, but not limited to, several factors that include type and years of experience, education level, and expertise.
