Reports to:  Lower School Division Head

Primary Responsibilities:

Teach physical education classes Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2; collaborate and co-create units of study with colleagues to design learning experiences for students; communicate and partner with parents and grade-level teams to provide information about student learning and physical development

Hours/Classification: Full-Time, Exempt

Salary Range: $75,000-$120,000 Annually (Salaries are based on years of experience)

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Design, articulate, and implement Lower School Physical Education Program program for a range of learners in Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2
  • Work in close partnership with other physical education teachers to advance a K-8 program that is coordinated and aligned with the school’s mission of excellence in education for girls
  • Work effectively with young girls of all body types and range of gross and fine motor abilities
  • Design and execute lessons which foster collaboration, problem solving, and critical thinking
  • Collaborate with Lower School homeroom teachers and other specialists to integrate motor development and physical movement in other curricular areas
  • Support K-8 Field Day preparation in collaboration with the Physical Education Department
  • Identify materials, resources, and technology needs for program
  • Incorporate appropriate technology tools and resources for instruction
  • Create and update web page(s) and blog(s) to support marketing and communication
  • Communicate with parents about the goals of the physical education program
  • Attend collaborative and confidential discussions to share information about student needs
  • Actively participate in division meetings, admissions, and other important school events
  • Pursue relevant opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Evaluate students on a semester schedule with written report cards
  • Supervise students in other venues such as recess, lunch, field trips, etc.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the above responsibilities
