Job Title: Learning Specialist
Member of Educational Cooperative
100% FTE, Exempt
Salary range: $69,155 to $93,221
Location: on campus, in-person

Summary
The Learning Specialist at Synergy School oversees all aspects of the school’s student learning support services TK-8, both in and out of the classroom environment. This position creates and supports the implementation of individual learning support plans, makes recommendations to families, and provides intervention in one-to-one and small group settings.The learning specialist will participate fully as a member of the Educational Cooperative and Board of Trustees.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Case management of students with learning differences.
Provide one-on-one and small-group support/instruction for students, both in push-in and pull-out environments.
Make regular assessments and reports of student achievement and progress.
Attend Parent-Teacher Conferences to discuss pupil progress with parents, if required.
Meet with individual parents as necessary to discuss the progress of their children.
Read and summarize all Psych-Ed evaluations as necessary.
Create individual learning plans (ILPs) that will target pupils’ specific curricular/learning needs.
Observe students in and outside of class to provide feedback to teachers and parents
Guide teachers on how to differentiate instruction for various learning styles.
Collaborate effectively with teachers to implement recommended classroom accommodations and interventions.
Counsel families on learning support and assessment recommendations.
Develop and maintain communication and documentation protocols related to learning support.
Assume an active role in Student Support Team (SST) meetings.
Coordinate detailed testing of students by outside specialists.
Organize and oversee standardized testing accommodations.
Coordinate the use of external tutors.
Manage communication with parents including phone, email, meetings
Uphold standards of punctuality, discretion, and professionalism
Practice the Synergy School agreement system and Synergy philosophy regarding growth and change
Communicate with the teaching teams and learning specialist regarding students with neurodiversity, modify and adapt curriculum as needed
Fulfill duties as a full member of the teaching cooperative (supervising students during recess and lunch, drop-off and pick-up curb duty)
Participate on school committees
Must be able to lift 25 lbs

Preferred Skills
Strong knowledge of learning differences, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, as well as a deep understanding of ADHD and Executive functioning
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with students in grades K-8 with learning differences
Experience working with math and reading intervention programs; Making Math Real, Bridges, Orton Gillingham based phonics programs
Commitment to progressive educational practices
Understanding developmental stages and needs for children from 4 years of age through early adolescence
Team teaching experience
Experience working with neurodiverse learners
Willingness to fulfill co-op duties
Interest in being a part of a TK-8th grade learning community
Strong organizational and collaborative skills
Outdoor education experience
Teaching credential preferred
