St. Paul’s Episcopal School, located across from Lake Merritt in Oakland, enrolls approximately 380 students from diverse backgrounds in Kindergarten – Grade 8. Position Summary

The Front Desk/Receptionist will support the Lower School program. This individual will be the first point of contact for students and potential visitors when they check in to the Lower School campus, and provide assistance to parents, students, and staff as needed. As the receptionist, this person will manage incoming phone calls and inquiries about St. Paul’s Episcopal School and direct calls as necessary to the appropriate school personnel.

Job Responsibilities 

-Help with preparing for student and faculty arrivals in the morning
-Provide assistance to students, parents, faculty and staff
-Welcome all visitors and maintain security protocols (signing in and tracking time of visitors)
-Manage incoming phone calls and inquiries about St. Paul’s Episcopal School
-Provide first aid and assistance to sick and injured students (training provided for First Aid/CPR certification) including administering medications as necessary
-Distributing and overseeing daily mail and shipping/receiving
-Perform general office duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing
-Provide assistance to Senior Executive Administrator, and other departments as needed (e.g., Lower School and Middle School administration and staff, Admissions, Development, Business Office)
-Maintain clean and professional appearance of front office area

Minimum Qualifications

-Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years related experience in a nonprofit or school environment
-Excellent organization and technology skills, including experience working on databases and websites
-A collaborative and transparent work style, with the ability to adapt to working within an office environment and in a front-facing role interfacing with students and parents
-Comfortable interfacing with both students and adults
-Highly organized and detail-oriented

The salary range is between $46,000-$54,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
