SF Friends School

San Francisco Friends School, a K–8 Quaker school located in the Mission District of San Francisco, seeks an experienced middle school mathematics teacher for the first semester of our upcoming school year.

The school seeks teachers who resonate with the Friends school mission, which provides an exemplary education in a community dedicated to problem-solving, service to others, simplicity, social justice, and quiet reflection. Our Quaker mission also compels us to create a diverse and inclusive community; we seek a person who will thrive and contribute to such a community, both within and beyond the walls of the school.

Successful candidates will be experienced middle school teachers who are committed to mathematics education. The SFFS mathematics curriculum is inquiry-based; often beginning with a central question, it is driven by curiosity. Students seek answers through research, experimentation, and data. Candidates should have a strong mathematics background and be invested in collaborating with colleagues and working closely with students.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teamwork for curriculum development, student assessment, supervising an advisory group, and supervision of students at lunch and recess.

Full-time: December 15 2022 – June 2023

Preferred Qualities:

–       Three or more years of experience teaching middle school mathematics

–       Knowledge of current pedagogy and facility with hands-on and project-based

instruction

–       Openness to and interest in Quaker philosophy

–       Highly collaborative and creative team player

Interested candidates should send a cover letter, resume, and three references to:
