Schedule of Duties: 11-Month


Salary: $120,000- $140,000 annual/salary depending upon level of education and experience


Position Purpose: The Director of Learning Services (DLS) is responsible for programmatic visioning and leadership of the Learning & Student Support Team. The DLS follows principles of best practices associated with supporting student success and leads a team of collaborators in student services/counseling, designs and implements effective systems for case management, builds partnerships with families, and expands capacity in teachers to provide extraordinary support services at SHS P-8. Ongoing efforts will focus on evolving our existing processes, programs, and benchmarking practices, as well as streamlining our systems and programming for a cohesive experience for families and students from preschool through 8th grade.


Specific Expectations for P-8 Employees: In addition to regular teaching responsibilities (including but not limited to preparing curriculum and grade reporting, class prep, student reporting – report card narratives, parent-teacher conferences, supervision duties, classroom substitution, advisory, elective teaching, office hours, outdoor education/field trips, etc.), the following duties and responsibilities are required as part of the P-8 faculty/staff workload: Responsibilities beyond the boundaries of teaching assignments that foster a growth mindset in order to continually improve our P-8 program such as professional development and trainings, attendance of or participation in, mandatory meetings and/or events (Director’s Days, Open Houses, accreditation meetings, etc.) are required as directed by your supervisor. All employees will be paid appropriately and according to current law. All employees will be paid appropriately and according to current law. If staff are required to work outside of regular work schedule, permission to work outside of the regular work schedule is required; non-exempt employees will receive overtime pay, as eligible.


Essential Functions


• Lead and supervise the learning services team in the LMS, P, K-5, 6-8, to ensure high-quality services are provided to all students.

• Oversee the development and implementation of processes for supporting students needing accommodations by reviewing outside testing reports, identifying strategies to meet the needs of evaluated students, planning for, and communicating with teachers regarding implementation of student accommodations and differentiated lesson planning.

• Systematically check in with teachers on how lesson plans are being differentiated, and accommodations are being implemented, to ensure for consistency and fidelity across grade levels.

• Oversee student transitions between grade levels, including the development of transition plans and the coordination of services and supports.

• Oversee class placements for K-5; Collaborate on class placements for 6-8.

• Collaborate with Point of Contact teachers to analyze and interpret benchmark data related to student performance to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.

• STAR, F&P, ERB Milestone, and curriculum-based measures.


• Collaborate closely with the school counselors.

• Provide professional development opportunities for staff and the parent community to enhance their skills and knowledge related to educational services.

• Collaborate in partnership with the LMS Director of OMCS to ensure that all students are supported in an equitable manner.

• Collaborate with the Director of Learning Services at SHP to ensure students’ successful transition to highschool.

• Collaborate with the Director of Admissions to ensure screening processes are appropriately identifying factors that affect student levels of performance.

• Actively participate in a collaborative employee culture that is committed to being at the leading edge of P-8 education.




• Master’s degree or post graduate work in Special Education, educational administration, counseling and guidance, or closely related field.

• Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in a responsible administrative position performing student support services and/or related functions; and a minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher, counselor, school nurse or other related certificated position.

• Demonstrated experience effectively forming and leading teams of colleagues as a coach, mentor, director or similar role.

• Demonstrated skill in designing and executing on systems for case management.

• A commitment to anti-racism and demonstrated skill designing equitable and inclusive educational experiences and learning environments that incorporate themes of diversity and justice.

• Ability to both envision and communicate a compelling strategic vision and to execute on tasks as described above.

• Ability to balance dynamic relationships with parents and outside professionals.

• Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning in a diverse, dynamic, and progressive school community.

• Proficiency communicating with varied constituents around complex topics while effectively balancing candor and warmth.

• Desire and ability to work in a collegial, highly collaborative environment.

• Excellent verbal and written skills in English, additional skills in Spanish strongly preferred.

• Ability to work well with students, families, and colleagues; willingness to be an active, enthusiastic member of the SHS community. Experience of any kind in a Sacred Heart school strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment


• Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.

• May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.

• Ability to travel safely and comfortably across a 64-acre campus.

• Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. and regularly lift up to 15 lbs.

• Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment and intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
