Presidio Hill School is an independent, progressive school located in the Presidio Heights neighborhood of San Francisco and serves a diverse population of approximately 200 students enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade, with a faculty and staff of approximately 45 people. Established in 1918 by artist-educator-activists Helen Salz and Flora Arnstein, Presidio Hill School is the oldest continuously operating progressive school in California, with a mission and deep history connected to social justice.

Position Description
Presidio Hill School seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented, flexible person to partner with and support the Director of Development and other Senior Administrators. The ideal candidate will enjoy relationship building and exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, while also being adept at analytical thinking. This is a unique position for a hands-on person who enjoys being actively involved in the life of a vibrant progressive school. Prior experience working with children, parents, volunteers, and/or in independent schools is encouraged. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that offers benefits and a competitive salary.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management
Serve as the database administrator for the Development Office. Update and track all constituent information to ensure the database is accurate and current. Manage all gift entry, pledge reminders, and acknowledgments in a timely manner; perform regular reconciliation with the Business Office; and generate reports and lists related to fundraising management, events, and constituent relations.
Special Events
Lead planning and logistical efforts for major Development events including Spring Fling fundraiser, Walk-a-thon, and Grandparents and Special Friends Day. This includes but is not limited to creating event timelines, volunteer management, coordinating communications, fundraising, and managing all event logistics. Support all other Development events including parent socials, alumni events, and other cultivation events.
Alumni Engagement
Alongside the Director of Development, help to execute the vision of a growing alumni engagement program and cultivate connections for PHS alumni to the School and one another. This may include utilizing social media, writing copy for annual magazines or quarterly eNewsletters, connecting with alumni individually, and organizing alumni events.
Development Office Management
- Provide logistical support for mailings including Annual Fund, event invitations, and cultivation and stewardship mailings.
- Maintain a well-stocked and organized Development supply closet and office.
- Educate oneself regarding the philosophy and programs of the School
- Participate in school-wide events and activities as requested.
Complete additional Development Office tasks as assigned.
Administrative Coordination & Duties
Support Head of School and Associate Head of School with key administrative tasks including scheduling, calendar management, parent/teacher conference scheduling, tracking of professional development requests, hospitality, events, and other special projects, as needed.
As a member of the administrative team, perform duties as assigned i.e. morning yard supervision, lunch and recess coverage, dismissal duty, front desk coverage, etc.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years working in a Development office or other detail-oriented work environment
Experience
- Experience in project management, event planning, and/or fundraising
- Experience working in a school environment is a plus
Skills

- Strong interpersonal skills
- Superb project management skills and the ability to execute independently on tasks
- Strong analytical skills
- Proficiency using donor database systems, ideally Raiser’s Edge
- Solid organizational and administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive.
