Job Description
Mulberry School is a private preschool-8th grade community located in Los Gatos, CA. Founded in 1963, Mulberry inspires children to a life of learning and positive contribution to community. By weaving creativity and social learning into every day, we foster intellectual and social success for a lifetime. Our preschool is a thriving and innovative program that values each child, believing that children learn naturally through play. Our program is designed to encourage discovery, independence, social interaction and in-depth exploration.

Mulberry’s small child to adult ratio which includes a devoted parent body, allow children 2-5 years old to fully explore our expansive campus. Our core values of discovery, engagement, collaboration, integrity, self-knowledge, and community are at the heart of our everyday interactions with young children.

Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of 24 semester units in Early Childhood Education, which include those required by state licensing.
Must have a minimum of one year practical experience in a licensed preschool program.
Must be teacher qualified as stated under California Title 22.
Must enjoy working with children and be able to relate to them in a warm and sensitive way.
Must possess evidence of sufficient security and judgment to handle crisis situations.
Must have the physical stamina needed so required duties can be successfully completed.
Must communicate effectively with children, parents, and other staff.
The preschool teachers shall be responsible for planning and supervising the daily program and for acting as a resource for parents. Their overall duty is to monitor day-to day activities within the preschool to ensure an efficient and effective positive discipline program that meets the needs of the students and parents. This position reports to the Preschool’s Director.

Responsibilities:

1. For Children

Plan appropriate activities designed to develop in the areas of social, emotional, intellectual, and physical (sensory and perceptual motor) growth. Activities should include language, art, music, dramatic play, sensory, and motor experiences. Children should be encouraged to participate in each of these activities.
Evaluate children’s growth in above areas
Be responsible for children’s safety and well-being at the school

2. To School and Staff

Coordinate and create a vibrant curriculum with the other Preschool Teachers and Directors
Report to the Preschool Directors to discuss program materials and individual children’s needs
Cooperate in a professional manner with other staff members in formulating and developing curriculum and procedures
Attend orientation meetings, general meetings, and staff development meetings
Represent Mulberry in the community
Take the PAT (Positive Parenting) Class

3. Other Duties

Maintain attendance records of the children
Continue professional growth by attending workshops, classes, and conferences when possible
Maintain the preschool rooms, making sure all materials are put away and the room is left clean for the next class
Attend school functions
Comply with the provisions of the Employee Handbook

COVID-19 considerations:
We have an extremely well rounded Safety Plan. We were one of 3 first to receive the Waiver in Santa Clara County. We have been teaching and learning in person since September 2020.
