POSTPONED: Strategic Planning for DEI: A Workshop for School Leaders and Teams

June 16, 2020 @ 8:30 am - June 17, 2020 @ 3:30 pm PDT

The purpose of this intensive two-day workshop is to facilitate the team planning process for the upcoming year, using Harvard Graduate School of Education’s RIDES equity improvement cycle process. Reimagining Integration for Diverse and Equitable Schools (RIDES) has developed and shared a number of tools and approaches for creating on-going improvement spearheaded by school-based teams. This approach asks practitioners to look closely at the individual school focus and need, and then to systematically explore ways to plan and implement improvement steps. Whether you are a new team looking for some guidance on the process of collaborating deeply around equity, or an experienced group hoping to carve out some time in the company of other schools to explore next steps in your process – we invite you to join us for this special workshop.

Objectives or Outcomes:

  1. Deepen team understanding and commitment to DEI as a core underlying tenet of your school
  2. Explore and apply tools for assessing your current reality
  3. Experience an Equity Improvement Cycle process and tailor it to your needs
  4. Take the TIME needed as a team to assess the year past and plan for the coming year
  5. Benefit from the insights, expertise and experiences of other schools in the cohort as a community of practice

This workshop is designed for school-based teams of 4-6 people. We strongly encourage the participation of School Leaders and DEI practitioners along with teachers and other staff.
