Temporary 5th Grade Lead Homeroom Teacher (Parental Leave Coverage)

The Carey School, a Preschool to 5th grade independent school in San Mateo, California seeks an experienced educator for a 5th  grade lead homeroom teacher for a parental leave coverage for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated collaboration with colleagues including  grade level partners and assistant teachers. Candidates will also need to work closely with content specialist teachers and will have experience integrating content areas across class and content areas. In addition, the candidate will have a proven record in teaching both language arts and mathematics, utilizing differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students. Knowledge of elementary developmental stages, prior teaching experience, and a valid teaching credential  is required. This is a temporary, full-time with benefits,  exempt position, and employment is expected to be from August to November 2026. The anticipated salary range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for this position is based on an annual salary of $90K – $115K, depending on factors such as experience or education.
