World History Teacher

Position Description:
Upper School Humanities teacher, grades 9-12
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching two sections of ninth grade World Cultures
  • Teaching two junior/senior history seminars per semester (two sections of International Relations in the fall semester; Latin American History and a cross cultural world history seminar in the spring semester)
  • Co-curricular duties as assigned

 
Core Qualifications:
All candidates should demonstrate a commitment to education for democracy, justice, equity, inclusion, community service, and environmental stewardship.  Candidates furthermore should have a Bachelor’s degree in History (or extensive experience teaching History), at least three years of teaching experience, a passion for working with young people, and a desire to take part in a dynamic and diverse community. 
Finally, candidates need to be willing to collaborate with the entire 9th grade Humanities team to foster an experiential approach to the study of the cultures and histories of the world.  
 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • MA in History or related field
  • Experience with the Model U.N. (either as an advisor or a mentor to a team)
  • Academic background in and/or experience teaching World History (including Latin American history)
  • Experience working closely with a co-teacher and/or experience collaborating closely with a team of teachers
  • Life experience living in multiple cultures and/or someone who has been engaged in multicultural communities
