Upper School Literature position

 Full-time Temporary Humanities Position: Literature One-Year Full Time with the possibility of permanent 5/8-3/4 time for 2014-2015 Expected Beginning Date: 8/1/2013, 2013-2014 school year
 Position Description:
Upper School Humanities teacher, grades 9-12
·         Full-time for the 2013-2014 school year:
o   Three sections of tenth grade U.S. Literature
o   One section of junior/senior literature (Preferably Poetry in fall; Women’s lit in spring)
o   Co-curricular duties as assigned
 Core Qualifications:
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Literature with at least three years of teaching experience, a passion for working with young people, and a desire to take part in a dynamic and diverse community.  Candidates must have experience working closely with a co-teacher, and should be willing to collaborate with the entire 10th grade US Studies team. Candidates will also ideally have had experience in journalism and teaching English Language Learners. 
 Preferred Qualifications:
·         MA in Literature (or a related field)
·         Academic background in and experience teaching writing to high school students
·         Academic background in and/or experience teaching ELL (English Language Learner) students
·         Academic background in and/or experience teaching U.S. literature
