SF Friends School Diversity Film Night, Nov 15

San Francisco Friends School Diversity Committee is proud to present "My Flesh And Blood." The film will be shown Friday November 15 from 6-9pm in our Black Box Theater. Joining us to share and discuss her work will be the film’s producer Jen Chaiken, as well as Susan Tom of Farfield, CA, mother of the family chronicled in the film
Susan Tom adopted eleven children, most of whom had serious disabilities or diseases and were rejected by their birth families. The family's unconventional home-life becomes a foundation for the supports, challenges, and successes that they face daily. It was nominated for and won several awards, including the Audience Award and the Director's Award at the Sundance Film Festival. View the trailer here.

From the SF Chronicle, "It's about one woman's unconditional love — and her motivation (however unconscious) for bringing more and more kids into her home. It's about the way children learn to accept their limitations (or not). It's about the way society learns to accept (or not) those children. It's about siblings and big families. "
