BERKWOOD HEDGE SCHOOL seeks DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small learning community and administrative team and to help to strategically position Berkwood Hedge School as an educational leader in the Bay Area. The ideal candidate will be an experienced admissions professional with a high degree of integrity, sound judgment, and sensitivity. S/he will have prior independent school experience (admissions, marketing, communications, and development preferred); excellent people, communication (oral and written), and organizational skills; be entrepreneurial and a self-starter; be flexible and a collaborative team player; and have a good sense of humor.
Due to the nature of the Admissions cycle in independent schools, the fall and winter are particularly busy times with admissions events outside of normal school hours. Admissions work is cyclical in nature. Therefore, the work load is heaviest in fall and winter and there is a significant reduction in the spring and summer.
The Director of Admissions is a part-time employee and reports to the Head of School.
ADMISSIONS & ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
Identify, recruit, admit, enroll, and re-recruit mission-appropriate students and their families. The DA will work to increase the knowledge of the school and its strengths in the broader community and is responsible for meeting the enrollment goals of the School. S/he will work closely with the Head of School to oversee the recruitment, admissions, enrollment, & tuition assistance processes.
Develop and oversee all aspects of Alumni Relations programs at the school.
GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
Support all day-to-day school operations of the school
Possesses a keen eye for photo composition and framing for publications and advertising.
Has strong analytical and database skills with an ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Has strong computer skills with a proficiency in MS office. & Pages
Has excellent verbal and written skills\Is very personable and enjoys interacting with a diverse group of people

Inform student, parents, lead teacher, and the Director/Head of School immediately of any relevant information.

At Berkwood Hedge, an administrators's engagement includes various activities in addition to office duties, such as giving extra help to students who need it, communicating feedback directly to the Director/Head of School, encouragement of the efforts of colleagues, concern for the appearance of the offices and of the grounds, promptness in meeting all School obligations, and flexibility and cooperation in supporting our school's advancement. Attendance at School events and activities, such as plays, concerts, festivals, and fairs, etc., is very strongly encouraged. Attendance at designated staff meetings and open houses is required.
