Part TIme Music Teacher

Children’s Day School (CDS) in San Francisco is looking for a Part Time Music Teacher. Reporting to the Preschool Program Director, the Music Teacher is responsible for bringing to life a dynamic, contemporary, multi-ethnic, and developmentally-appropriate music curriculum for children ages three to five. To learn more about CDS, visit our website at www.cds-sf.org.
 
Responsibilities
·      Collaborate, problem-solve and communicate with our full time music teacher as well as with classroom teachers
·      Plan and teach three hours of preschool music per week including singing, instruments and movement. (12 children at a time)
·      Plan for a yearly performance with all three preschool classes
·      Communicate with classroom teachers around integrating classroom curriculum topics into music class
·      Respond to the intellectual, emotional, social and physical needs of the children

·      Model behavior and language that supports our mission and our program
·      Display a passion for learning and a commitment to personal-professional growth
·      Work effectively with children, families, and staff of diverse backgrounds and family structures
·      Be proficient in technology: email, word processing, photos, etc. Comfort with blogging a plus
 
Requirements
The successful candidate will:
·      Have strong vocal skills or play a musical instrument, preferably both
·      Have experience in teaching music and creative movement and understanding of the Orff approach
·      Experience in teaching the principles of the Dalcroze and Kodaly philosophy is desirable.
·      Have at least a Bachelors degree in a related field. Candidates with Early Childhood Education credits preferred
·      Spanish speaking a plus
