Overview of School:
Park Day School, a progressive independent school founded in 1976, offers an outstanding K-8 program to over 300 students. The program is rooted in the tenets of progressive education and reinforces 21st Century pedagogy. The school community embraces the ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic diversity of Oakland. Our student-centered approach cultivates deep thinkers and compassionate and courageous people who will work to shape a more equitable, just and sustainable world. Park Day is a leader in public purpose initiatives; our community outreach program collaborates with public schools and community groups to create meaningful service-learning opportunities for our students. Our historical and park-like four-acre campus is located in the vibrant Temescal neighborhood of Oakland, CA.
Overview of the Position:
Part-time Middle School (6-8) Basketball Coach
A part-time coach that is able to provide a fun, educational, team-spirited and inclusive team atmosphere. Park Day is a small school, and thus, it is expected that participants will have a wide range of experience and skill levels. Many students in 6th grade have not previously played the sport in an organized fashion. Candidates should have a demonstrated interested in working with children and experience in playing or coaching basketball at a competitive level. Prior experience coaching kids teams or camps desirable or teaching at the middle school level.
Available Tues., Weds. and Thurs., afternoons from 3:30-6:00
2 time commitments per week that can vary from day to day and time.
Must hold a high-school diploma
Must submit a live-scan fingerprinting report
Must have reliable transportation
