At Lick, the average full time teacher workload is 75-80 students, the students are motivated, and the compensation is generous. Lunch is included in the comprehensive benefits package for faculty and staff.
Successful teaching candidates will have developed a thoughtful teaching practice, have three years of teaching experience at a minimum, have earned a teaching credential, masters degree, or equivalent experience, hold a deep love of high school students, and know that teachers at the high school level serve as role models and educators both inside and outside the classroom.
Overview of the Position
We seek qualified candidates to fill one part time science teacher position (4 sections, 100% FTE with benefits). The course is an introductory level physics class for juniors and seniors. Our classes meet every other day for 75-minute blocks. Ideal candidates will have 2 years of teaching experience at the high school level, a deep passion and knowledge of the subject matter and a commitment to hands on, student-centered teaching practices.
We seek thoughtful, energetic, and passionate teachers who are committed to using multiple teaching modalities, hands-on experimentation and various forms of assessment in the classroom. We are also looking for genuine, kind colleagues and all-around “school people” who want to participate in and contribute to our vibrant community. A love of high school students, flexibility, and a sense of humor are required.
