This position will manage the day-to-day operations of school communication during the Director of Communication’s maternity leave and will report to the Head of School. Accordingly, the position will facilitate internal and external communication initiatives that promote the mission of the school and tell the CDS story. This position is part-time and begins in November 2012.
Website and internet presence
o Serve as the primary content editor for the CDS website. Proactively work with each department to keep information and news current on the site.
o Maintain the school Facebook page; post approximately once a week depending on school events/calendar.
Write and edit diverse communications for internal and external audiences, including:
o Parent communication – weekly newsletter and liaison communication
o Teacher communication – edit teacher (blog) pages
o Extended program publication support (in partnership with EP staff)
o Event communication support (in partnership with development and admissions)
o With faculty and IT, coordinate the documentation of classroom activities/events that help tell the CDS story
Help maintain the school brand, logo and “look and feel”
o Maintain school style guide
o Design and produce facility signs for event promotion
The Ideal Candidate
• Has editing and writing experience with an independent school and/or non-profit organization
• Works well independently and as part of a team
• Is comfortable with Word, Excel, Pages, Numbers, Adobe and is internet savvy
• Handles communication with grace and efficiency
