Presidio Hill School is seeking a full-time music teacher to begin teaching in the 2014-15 school year.
Candidates should have experience teaching via the Orff-Schulwerk pedagogy, including vocal, instrumental, and movement components. In addition to pitched and unpitched percussion, the ideal candidate would be able to include a variety of instruments – such as acoustic and electric guitar, electric bass, keyboard, brass and woodwinds, and a trap set – into the program. The music teacher would work collaboratively with all staff as needed, and may also be asked to take leadership regarding all-school or large group music-based events/performances. The levels taught on a regular basis would likely include 1st through 8th grades, and might also involve some “after school” lessons or practices. Clear and effective classroom management strategies and an obvious joy in working with children at all levels of musical understanding are both requirements for this position.
