Founded in 1966, the Urban School of San Francisco is a progressive independent high school of 420 students located in the heart of the Haight Ashbury neighborhood. Urban is beginning a search for an Admissions Associate & Outreach Coordinator to complete a 4-member admissions team dedicated to enrolling a talented, engaged and diverse group of students each year.

Classification: Full-time, Non-exempt, 12-month staff
Starting: August 2024 (specific date TBD)
Reporting to: Director of Admissions

Position Description:

  • Serve as an engaging ambassador and enthusiastic champion of the school, its mission and its program
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Urban’s academic programs and activities and serve as a primary source of information about Urban and its admissions process for prospective students and parent/guardians
  • Assist with all admissions event planning, execution and management, including, but not limited to, tours, fairs, visit program, information sessions, open houses, interviews, affinity night, and more (includes occasional weeknights and weekends)
  • Assist in management of our interview program and interview prospective students in an engaging, warm manner
  • Help manage and lead student visit program
  • Serve as liaison to foster and manage relationships with outreach organizations and members, public and parochial schools
  • Assist with all operations of the admissions office, including community and prospective family communication, admissions software and each aspect of the admissions process
  • Evaluate applications and review them with the Admissions Committee; maintain confidentiality and high level of integrity
  • Cheerfully complete miscellaneous clerical tasks and complete deliverables on time and proactively manage workload by seeking assistance as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma; some college preferred
  • Strong reading, writing, verbal and organizational skills
  • Professional, warm demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and individually
  • Ability to connect and build relationships with a wide variety of individuals of different ages and backgrounds
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability
  • Strong commitment to equity and inclusion within a school environment
  • Commitment to deadlines and timeliness
  • Strong computer literacy with good facility in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google apps
  • Some Knowledge of Urban School’s programs, curriculum and community preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This position will occasionally require some evening and weekend work, working outdoors, and working with children and adults
  • Typical Working Conditions: Climate-controlled office and classroom environment
  • Equipment Used: Personal laptop computer, phone printer/copy machine‌
  • Essential Physical Tasks: Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. This job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing

Salary And Benefits:

The anticipated hourly wage the school reasonably expects to pay for the Admissions Associate & Outreach Coordinator position is $39.66 to 42.07/hr.
