Marin Academy seeks a Director of Technology. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, self-directed, flexible, and curious systems thinker with a proven track record of transformational leadership and excellent customer service. A successful candidate will demonstrate a desire to be both a hands-on implementer and a big picture thinker willing to work with faculty and staff to define best practices in teaching and learning and be able to put those practices in place across all divisions of the school in a sustainable, practical, and ever-evolving form.
The Director of Technology will report to the school’s Academic Dean and Chief Financial Officer and will supervise two full-time Technology staff. Superior knowledge and skill with Apple and PC hardware and systems is a requirement. Experience with web-based course management systems and databases is also a requirement; experience with Whipple Hill’s Podium Platform and Student Information System is preferred. Preference will also be given to candidates with previous experience managing personnel, a Master’s degree relevant to the responsibilities of the position, and demonstrated experience in the educational technology arena.
The Director of Technology provides strategic and visionary leadership in all areas of technology. This is a progressive educator and technology leader who can help the school define its academic technology program and IT services to support the school’s vision for teaching and learning in the 21st century. The Director of Technology manages a technology department that is responsible for all data needs of the School: technology infrastructure, database and website management, information systems, integration of technology in the learning process, technology education and professional development. The Director of Technology partners with administrators and staff in school operations and web-based services (Admission, Advancement, Business and Operations) to assist these departments in employing technology to enhance the school’s web presence and to achieve greater organizational efficiencies. The Director of Technology will manage a diverse technology team and support and mentor each member to be a strong leader in their area of focus. They must create an environment of shared knowledge and purpose among the technology team and ensure that this is evident in the community. The Director of Technology must clearly define the mission of the technology department to ensure all members are unified toward a common goal.
Marin Academy is an independent, college preparatory high school located in the San Francisco Bay Area in San Rafael, CA with an enrollment of 400 students with academic talent, interest in the arts and athletics, and a passion for a multitude of issues. Our students come from San Francisco, the East Bay, and Sonoma in addition to Marin County. Marin Academy has a block schedule in which classes meet every other day for 80-minute periods.
