Mandarin Teacher – Grades 4-8

Hillbrook School is seeking an experienced and accomplished Mandarin teacher who will teach grades 4-8, serve as an advisor, and participate in grade-level activities that support the divisional program.Hillbrook School is a co-ed, independent, JK–8 school located in Los Gatos, California on a recently renovated 14 acre campus. Teach Mandarin in grades 4-8.

Implement the school’s social emotional curriculum, which is based on the Responsive Classroom and Developmental Design

Provide a hands-on, inquiry-based style of teaching; manage collaborative learning groups; integrate technology into the curriculum

Serve as Middle School advisor, including following student progress, liaising with parents as first line of communication with the school, advocating for students in all matters pertaining to the student, and facilitate student/parent/advisor conferences

Mentor, and co-teach with, a Resident Teacher

Actively participate in a faculty culture that is committed to being at the leading edge of K-8 education

Reports to the Middle School Head

Qualifications:

A love of middle school children

Master’s degree and five years teaching experience preferred

Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning in a dynamic, 21st century school community

Ability to work in a collegial, collaborative environment

A growth mindset, active sense of humor, warm personality, and excellent organizational and communication skills

Demonstrated proficiency in educational technology
