The elementary Spanish teacher is responsible for all aspects of teaching Spanish in a dynamic, progressive educational environment, including curriculum development, student assessment and parent communication. Students are taught twice weekly in small groups in the Spanish classroom. Our candidate will collaborate and coordinate with the other elementary and middle school Spanish teachers to provide for curricular continuity, as well as the lower school faculty and administration.
We seek a teacher who can infuse lessons with energy and joy, inspire a passion and curiosity for learning and speaking Spanish and related cultural studies, and who can anchor curriculum in meaningful contexts for deep understanding. She or he will be able to successfully instruct and differentiate for students at different ability levels and multiple intelligences, including adapting curriculum for Hispanic Heritage Learners. The Spanish teacher will establish and maintain a healthy and mutually respectful learning environment. Candidates must be confident bilingual speakers and writers. A teaching credential, experience teaching Spanish to elementary aged students and familiarity with the TPRS methodology is strongly preferred. The hiring process will include a demonstration lesson and interview with a hiring committee.
