The part-time (80%) Lower School French teacher will be responsible for teaching French in grades K through 5, assuming full responsibilities for establishing an appropriate learning environment, providing rich curriculum, offering varied learning activities and maintaining professional communication with parents. He/she works closely with the LS Chinese and Spanish teachers to create lessons in line with the existing LS language curriculum.
Lower School faculty take on additional responsibilities such as lunch duty, morning supervision, dismissal and faculty meetings. The school seeks applicants who have a strong academic background, experience in multicultural education, an understanding of young children, and a genuine fondness for working with students.
The successful applicant will have at least a Bachelor’s degree in French with a credential or Master’s in Education preferred. In addition, the candidate will preferably be a native speaker and will have familiarity with the best pedagogical approaches to teaching another language. Teaching experience with elementary school students is essential.
