Learning Strategies Center Associate

Overview of the School:
Lick-Wilmerding High School in San Francisco is a college preparatory, co-educational day school serving approximately 460 students from grades 9-12. Founded in 1895 as a technical arts school and tuition free until 1972, LWHS has a long history of welcoming and supporting students from all walks of life and prides itself on being a private school with public purpose. At LWHS, a diverse student body, faculty, and staff in all its forms is central to what we believe constitutes an excellent education, and we are institutionally committed to ongoing and reflective work in order to further define and articulate this complex and worthwhile vision.

Overview of the Position:
Lick-Wilmerding High School’s Learning Strategies Center (LSC) is an academic resource for students with diagnosed learning differences and for all students who hope to improve their academic performance.

Major Responsibility:
Lick-Wilmerding currently seeks a full time LSC Associate. The Associate will report to the Director of the LSC, and will have responsibility for the following tasks:
• Organizing and monitoring specific school programs, including:
Peer Tutoring
Audio Archives
Standardized Testing (PSAT/AP)
• Tutoring (FI: grammar and math)
• Organizing and presenting student workshops (FI: organizational skills, time management)
• Assisting the Director of the LSC

The ideal candidate would have at least a BA/BS degree in education or equivalent work in a related field, with experience in Special Education desirable.
• The candidate should have the following professional qualities:
Must understand and enjoy working with teenagers
Be sensitive to issues of diversity and equity
Be highly organized and detail-oriented
• Personal qualities should include:
Excellent communication skills
Patience, flexibility, sense of humor
Well-developed personal boundaries

This is a full-time, hourly position with some flexibility of schedule.
