Presidio Hill School seeks an experienced learning specialist for grades 4th-8th to start fall 2014. Position is full time or could possibly be ¾ time if preferred by candidate.
The learning specialist provides direct service to students individually, in small groups, and within the classrooms; meets with teachers to discuss individual students and their learning profiles; screens children for learning and developmental challenges; works with teachers and parents to recommend outside evaluation and support services; assists with admissions work; provides professional development activities for faculty. The learning specialist will collaborate with two other learning support staff members to coordinate learning services at the school in all curriculum areas.
Candidates should enjoy working with faculty, students and parents in supporting students with learning differences including attentional challenges. Training as a learning specialist, educational therapist, or special educator in both language arts and math is desired. Credential or masters degree highly preferred. Candidates should be comfortable working in a collaborative environment and work well with both students and adults from diverse backgrounds. Familiarity with educational resources in San Francisco and experience in an independent school is preferred.
