Learning Resource Program (LRP) Teacher in Elementary Grades
Full-Time Position

San Francisco Day School is seeking a full-time Learning Resource Program Teacher for the 2013-14 school year.

San Francisco Day School is a K-8, nonprofit private school in the heart of the city with an enrollment of approximately 400 students. As listed in the NAIS Principles of Good Practice, an effective SFDS teacher has thorough knowledge, uses a variety of teaching techniques, establishes positive relationships with students, collaborates with colleagues, initiates professional development, supports the School mission, serves outside the classroom, adheres to professional standards, and models integrity and respect.

Position Summary: The ideal candidate is an outstanding learning resource teacher who has a vibrant and engaging teaching style that inspires students and teachers alike. He or she works in collaboration with the grade level team in the development of differentiated curriculum, effective strategies, and individualized educational plans for students with learning differences. The candidate will have a successful working knowledge of various pedagogical methodologies (including, but not limited to Orton-Gillingham Language Instruction, Making Math Real, Neurodevelopmental Constructs and Interventions, Executive Function Coaching) suited for individuals, small groups, and whole class instruction; a broad repertoire and knowledge of assessment and intervention; and a developmental appropriateness to skill development in young children. The candidate will be an effective partner with families in providing case management and assisting as liaison between classroom and allied professionals in making comprehensive academic plans.

The successful candidate must possess a Master’s degree in Education, certification in Educational Therapy or the equivalent in a related field with emphasis in specific instruction or curriculum development relevant to the field of learning disabilities. He or she must have a minimum 2 years supervised teaching experience and two years of direct work in the field. The successful candidate must have interpersonal skills conducive to a team approach and relate to the difficulties and concerns that parents, faculty, and the general school community experience related to academic and cognitive differences. Must maintain a high level of integrity with regard to matters, which may be considered confidential in nature.
