Middle School Teacher in Mathematics
Family Leave (August through November 2025)
The Position
The Nueva School seeks a Middle School Mathematics teacher to cover a family leave. The ideal candidate will have significant experience and interest in the field of mathematics and be excited to work with middle school students, especially seventh and eighth graders. Experience working with middle school or high school age children is required. The position would cover classes from late August through November 2025. This is a full-time in-person position with a competitive salary and full benefits.
Well-qualified candidates will be creative, energetic, and passionate people with a strong background in mathematics, including Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory, and Statistics. They will have a strong constructivist approach and pedagogical background, allowing them to support students with in-depth exploration of mathematical concepts and the improvement of their problem-solving abilities. They will have experience teaching or tutoring high school level math concepts. Candidates will be excited to collaborate regularly with colleagues and be open to offering and receiving regular feedback.

General Responsibilities for Teachers in Middle School Division
· Lead by example in commitment to Nueva’s mission: “Our school community inspires passion for lifelong learning, fosters social and emotional acuity, and develops the student’s imaginative mind.”
· Develop and teach expertly your course of study with the highest standards for each student
· Convey enthusiasm for content and intellectual inquiry
· Design instruction that emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving
· Collaborate with colleagues in the development and execution of curriculum and instruction
· Create hands-on, project-based learning experiences
· Form a collaborative and effective partnership with parents and students
· Model flexibility in implementing best learning practices
· Support the development of the whole child, with particular attention to the social and emotional development of the students
· Actively participate in other aspects of the student experience and school functioning: chaperoning day-long and multiple-day trips and events, serving on committees, developing new programs at the school, and supervising students on additional duties
· Demonstrate a commitment to social justice, equity and inclusion through pedagogy
· Demonstrate ability to serve as an advisor to students, lead student activities, serve as a club advisor, teach a Lit Club, and contribute beyond the classroom to support school programs and activities
· Integrate appropriate technology to enhance learning
Position Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree with strong math foundation (coursework in math)
· Strong content knowledge of high school level Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory, and Statistics
· Deep interest and desire to work with middle school students
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in classroom culture and curriculum
· A desire to learn by doing and to learn with and from others
· A desire to teach collaboratively
· Flexibility and creativity in working in a dynamic environment where new ideas, mistakes, and iteration are embraced.
· A profound openness to feedback and improvement, modeling lifelong learning
Compensation and Benefits
The full-time annual salary range for this position is $79,200 – $145,900. The actual salary will be the annual salary prorated for the portion of the school year served. The starting salary is based upon, but not limited to, several factors that include type and years of experience, education level, and expertise.
We offer a compensation and benefits package that includes fully paid medical, dental, vision, life insurance for employees, employer contribution toward dependent insurance premium, a generous match on our retirement plan, long-term disability insurance, flexible spending account, and free lunch.
