Redwood Day’s K-8 program includes over 380 students all learning together on our 4-acre campus in the heart of Oakland. Everything we do is designed to keep every child engaged and growing. Academically, that means a world-class curriculum, the best teachers, and a focus on the individual student. Socially and emotionally, we teach students to work through challenges, respect each other’s differences, and honor their diverse community. We are looking for substitute teachers to support the Redwood Day program. Responsibilities may include daily assignments teaching any of the following:

  • K-5 grade core (including language arts, math, history),
  • K-5 specialist subjects (art, computers, garden, music, library, physical education, science, Spanish),
  • 6th-8th single-subject classes (art, drama, design & innovation, English, health, history, math, music, physical education, science, Spanish)
Class size is approximately 20 students.

Job Description and Desired Qualifications
We are seeking dynamic substitute teachers with classroom teaching experience and strong classroom management skills, to add to our substitute teacher roster. Substitute teaching assignments are based on need; no one is guaranteed an assignment, even if selected for our teacher roster. Ability to accept an assignment on short notice is ideal. Bachelors degree required. Credential preferred, but not required.
