Substitute Teacher for the 2019-20 School Year – On Call – 2 Positions:
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) working with 3 year-olds through kindergarten
- Elementary & Middle School (1st-8th) working with 1st through 8th Grades
Overview of Position
The San Francisco School seeks Substitute Teachers to assure students are meaningfully and joyfully engaged in classroom activities. Ideal candidates are eager to work with lesson plans based on a multicultural, unbiased and meaningful curriculum. All candidates should be comfortable stepping in with these age groups, taking initiative and inspiring students. Substitute duties include work with individual children and small groups, overseeing class activities and managing children during free times and meal times. Responsibilities also include communicating observations and insights to Head Teachers, organizing classroom materials and equipment, and helping with Carpool or Extended Day.
Candidates interested in also working in Extended Day daily (2:45-6:00pm) should indicate that interest in their cover letter!
We seek a talented teacher who can inspire students. Candidates must have successful teaching experience and exhibit excellent communication skills. Cultural competence is essential. Candidates should be student-centered. A teaching credential or a related MA degree and three years of successful work as a teacher are recommended. The ECE candidate should possess at least 6 ECE credits in order to be considered for the position.
