JOB OPENING: Director of Spring Musical (Part Time-Seasonal)

REPORTS TO: Assistant Principal for Student Affairs, Collaborative working relationship (dotted-line) to Chair of Fine Arts
LOCATION: In-person on Campus in San Francisco, CA
STATUS: Part Time, Seasonal; December-April (auditions in December, 4 days/week January-April)
Salary Range: $10,000 (Stipend)

PRIMARY ROLE:

We are seeking to hire a Director of Spring Musical

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE IN THIS POSITION WILL BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE:

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Produce and Direct the Spring Musical (show TBD with candidate)
  • Work collaboratively with Tech Director, Music Director, Vocal Director, Costumes/Wig Professional, Sound Engineer, Choreographer and Professional Pit Band to produce and direct a high school musical at a high artistic level
  • Must design and adhere to a comprehensive rehearsal and production schedule coordinating all aspects of the show, including costumes, costume/wig fittings, props lists, sitzprobe, tech rehearsals etc, communicating early and clearly with the cast and their parents

Qualifications (some combination of):

  • Experience producing and directing musicals, preferably in the high school or college setting
  • Bachelor of Arts in Theater or Theater Education
  • Bachelor of Education with emphasis on Theater Arts
  • Master of Arts in Theater or Theater Education
  • Master of Education with emphasis on Theater Arts

  • Teaching experience in secondary education is preferred
