We are seeking someone who enjoys thinking deeply about math, is passionate and committed to meeting the needs of students, including students that benefit from extending their mathematical thinking beyond the classroom in the early elementary years (K-4). The ideal candidate sees “Math Lab” instruction time as an opportunity to extend, enrich, deepen and contextualize mathematical explorations.

The ideal candidate is also comfortable collaborating and supporting “homeroom” teaching teams by providing relevant resources, engaging in thoughtful discourse that prods mathematical teaching, and modeling progressive mathematical teaching techniques (inquiry/project based, interdisciplinary focused). Familiarity with a wide variety of curricular programs would also be preferred.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including cultural competency skills.

The LS Math Lab Teacher will report directly to the LS Head and work with the K-8 Instructional Coach and the Dean of Faculty.


Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred
Minimum of 3-5 years of classroom teaching experience (specifically in math) in a K-8 setting
Experience working with a wide range of students, teachers, and families of diverse backgrounds
Co-teaching and/or coaching experience preferred
Experience in design-thinking, STEAM, coding preferred


Strong knowledge of math and instructional methodologies; ability to develop curricula, lesson plans, and assessment tools
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and computational skills
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines

Collaborate with individual teachers and teaching teams, including co-planning, co-teaching, and thinking deeply about math and math instruction for our youngest learners
Collaborate with the LS Head to provide leadership and staff development for the math program
Lead targeted small-group mathematics instruction, for deeper math instruction and enrichment purposes, when necessary
Communicate with classroom teachers and parents regarding specific mathematics tools and resources that support best-practices in mathematical learning
Provide/recommend professional development for staff on mathematics best practices
Provide strategies and resources for supporting a range of learners (Universal Design for Learning)
Attend grade-level, departmental, division, and school-wide meetings
Attend professional development conferences
