San Francisco Day School:  Director of Innovation and Technology:

A major leadership position at SF Day, reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Innovation and Technology oversees all aspects of curriculum development and operations in these areas.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

Manage the Technology Program, working with Faculty and Academic Administration to proactively integrate appropriate tools into instruction and learning, including 1:1 iPad program, Google Workspace, educational technology resources, app and platform management, device and data management, cybersecurity, printing management, Acceptable Use Policy, and more.

 

Lead the Technology Committee; collaborate with Faculty on instructional technology (including logistics and curricular issues).

 

Lead the Innovation Department in curriculum design and implementation.

 

Oversee tech support personnel and outsourced remote support vendor (Knowing Technologies) to meet daily support needs from teachers, staff, and students as well as special events such as all-school meetings, performances, and standardized testing. Directly assist in these support areas when needed. Please note that this hands-on function is estimated to be about 25% of the position.

 

Maintain relationships with technology vendors to ensure technology infrastructure is strategically deployed and proactively maintained.

 

Work cross-functionally with the Business, Communications, Admissions, Operations, and Advancement departments to ensure technological tools are utilized effectively to meet their respective objectives.

 

Oversee ongoing, first-year implementation of Veracross, the school’s new Student Information System, to modernize SF Day’s storage of constituent data, update internal record-keeping practices, and streamline communications with families; coordinate internal division of tasks as well as contractor services.

 

Manage budget for technology purchases, including devices, software programs, digital resources, and innovative learning tools such as 3D printers.

 

Serve on hiring committees; collaborate with Human Resources to improve onboarding/offboarding processes as related to technology.

 

Ensure and improve equity and inclusion in technology use at SF Day; educate students in evaluating technology for social and environmental impacts.

 

As member of the leadership team, represent SF Day and communicate technology integration and innovative pedagogy to prospective and current families as well as Board members.

 

Lead and support all-school computational thinking and digital citizenship curriculum design, project-based and experiential learning, and development of innovation courses with focus on improving equity, justice, and sustainability.

 

Teach courses in innovation and digital citizenship to both US and LS students (for example, US Electives: Pop-Up Startup and Climate Justice League, Robotics, etc. to suit hiree’s own interest and expertise)

 

Develop and lead in-house professional development workshops on innovative teaching practices, such as equitable technology integration, project-based learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

 

Qualifications

 

Advance degree and related experience preferred
Technological experience (preferably school-based) essential
Deep knowledge of innovation and curricular trends within independent schools
Strong leadership and team-building skills
Passionate about innovation and how it can improve student learning
