Purpose Statement

The  Varsity Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for leading and developing the Women’s Basketball program, fostering a positive and competitive environment that promotes athletic excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This role encompasses all aspects of team management, including practice planning, game strategy, player development, and administrative duties. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of basketball, and a commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes.

Program Management:

Coordinate and implement comprehensive practice plans and game strategies for basketball.
Manage all aspects of game day operations, including lineup selection, in-game adjustments, and post-game analysis.
Utilize film analysis and statistical data to enhance team performance and individual player development.
Conduct scouting of opposing teams and develop effective game plans.
Staff Leadership and Development:

Collaborate with the Athletic Director to recruit and hire qualified coaching staff for all program levels (Varsity, JV, and Middle School).
Oversee, mentor, and provide guidance to JV coaches on practice content, systems, and player development.
Player and Parent Relations:

Serve as the primary point of contact for player and parent communication, addressing concerns and providing timely information.
Organize and facilitate team meetings and parent information sessions.
Provide guidance and support to athletes with college aspirations, responding to college-related inquiries.
Administrative Duties:

Manage team uniform and equipment inventory, ensuring proper maintenance and distribution.
Utilize communication platforms such as Teamsnap and email to disseminate information to players and parents.
Report game results to the Athletic Staff for posting on the school website, MaxPreps, and relevant media outlets (e.g., Marin IJ).
Maintain accurate team records and statistics.
Compliance and Professional Development:

Complete all required coaching certifications, including coaching principles, concussion awareness, heat illness prevention, and sudden cardiac arrest training.
Adhere to all school and athletic department policies and procedures.
Community Engagement:

Work with the Admissions Department to attract and retain high-impact players, contributing to the long-term success of the programs.
Attend admission events, such as open houses, as required (2-3 times per year).
Other Duties:

Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Requires some weekend/evening work hours.
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:

Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
Coaching experience with a high school/competitive travel team and/or college   playing experience preferred
A positive, upbeat coaching style
Thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, and strategies of the sport
Experience working in a K-12 School preferred
Or combination of equivalent experience, education and training

Skills and Essential Functions

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents and students
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to participate in physically demanding athletic activities
Ability to travel (possibly driving) off-campus for athletic competitions using school provided vans.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Adheres to the highest level of professionalism by demonstrating honesty, integrity and maturity

Working Conditions and Environment

Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 15 pounds
Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity
Frequently talk and hear
Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders

Compensation:

This position is nonexempt, which is eligible for paid overtime in accordance with applicable state and federal law.  The position pays $25.00 per hour with an estimated total of $6000.00 for the Basketball Season (November 2025 – March 2026). As a limited part-time employee, this position is ineligible for benefits.
