About the Role
San Domenico School is seeking a thoughtful and relational Director of Alumni Engagement to lead a renewed chapter in alumni programming. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building community, creating meaningful experiences, and fostering lasting connections between a school and its graduates.
The Director plays a strategic and highly visible role on the Advancement team, with responsibilities that include event planning, alumni communications, volunteer leadership, and philanthropic engagement. The role reports to the Director of Advancement and works closely with colleagues in Admissions, Marketing, and other departments to ensure alumni are meaningfully connected to the life of the school.
This position is well suited for someone with a warm, collaborative, and proactive approach to relationship-building, and who believes in the role of fundraising to support mission-driven, values-based education.

Key Responsibilities
Alumni Strategy and Leadership
Design and lead a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy that reflects the School’s values and vision
Reestablish the school’s Alumni Council and support a culture of volunteerism and leadership
Build strong relationships with alumni across generations and locations
Communications and Community Building
Create alumni-facing content for newsletters, email campaigns, and School Ties magazine
Maintain a consistent and engaging presence across digital and print platforms, while also planning meaningful in-person events throughout the year
Lead alumni-focused social media strategy and content development in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team
Coordinate all major alumni events including Alumni Reunion Weekend, regional gatherings, campus visits, and more.
Collaboration and Philanthropy
Partner with Advancement, Admissions, and faculty to connect alumni with students and programs
Support fundraising efforts through alumni outreach, stewardship, and campaign support
Ensure accurate alumni records and track engagement data in collaboration with Advancement Services
Required Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s degree (or higher)
Three to five years of experience in alumni relations, advancement, communications, or a related field
Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to connect across generations and platforms
Comfort engaging with diverse alumni in both one-on-one and group settings
Familiarity with digital tools that support alumni outreach and community-building
Demonstrated success planning events or managing volunteer-based programs
Experience using databases such as Raiser’s Edge and Blackbaud is preferred
Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events and travel
Experience in independent schools, higher education, or nonprofits is a plus

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $105,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
