Independent Day School, PreK - 12

Sacramento Country Day School, the regional leader in Pre-K-12th grade independent school education since 1964, seeks a Learning Specialist for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. This is a full-time position with benefits (100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision premiums for employee only), beginning August 16, 2025. The salary range is $52,000 – $95,000 depending on education and years of experience.

The learning specialist role will be split 60% Lower School and 40% Middle and High School and include:

  • Assisting with administering standardized benchmarking assessments
  • Planning and implementing intervention lessons with students who need Tier 2 academic intervention 1:1 and in small groups
  • Reviewing our Tier 1 literacy and math curriculum and helping teachers make accommodations to support students in their classrooms
  • Conducting classroom observations of students
  • Meeting with parents about their children’s progress and suggestions on how to support academic growth at home
  • Planning informational meetings for parents on literacy and numeracy development
  • Writing individualized Learning Profiles for students based on the interventions and accommodations outlined in their educational evaluations
  • Attending and participating in Student Support Team meetings
  • Working closely with learning support team to coordinate schedules and plans

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in special education, Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience teaching Orton-Gillingham-based phonics lessons, Wilson Fundations preferred
  • Familiarity with all areas of literacy and numeracy development
  • Knowledge of Everyday Mathematics and Responsive Classroom are a plusExperience working with students of different age groups and ability
  • Advanced communication skills

School requirements: background check, First Aid/CPR trained (school sponsored), negative TB result.
