Overview of Position

This position is for an Interim Spanish bilingual class teacher and 7th grade advisor, beginning August 2025. This teacher will report to the Middle School Division Head and will work in close collaboration with Team 7 and the Spanish Department. This is a full time teaching position.

Responsibilities of job

Plan, teach, and evaluate three daily Spanish lessons in grades 5th-6th, 7th and 8th for bilingual Spanish speakers
Assess incoming applicable students being considered for the Bilingual Spanish Class.
Assist in 6th grade Spanish lessons to support students brand new to Spanish
Attend frequent collaboration and planning meeting with Spanish Department to ensure a cohesive delivery of the world language program
Lead a 7th grade advisory – oversee the overall well-being of approximately 12 students, lead daily morning meetings, communicate with families, and partner with the student support team and other teachers to support each advisee in their overall success at school
Conduct ongoing effective communication with parents and participate in parent-teacher conferences
Supervise advisees during afternoon Study Halls
Serve on the 7th grade level team and work collaboratively with faculty team members
Participate in the 7th grade overnight student study trip and other grade level field trips
Participate in other school-wide activities throughout the year, such as committees, weekly team and staff meetings, and occasional evening or weekend school events
Collaborate with learning specialists in working with students with learning needs as it relates to your subject area and class
Teach a weekly elective

Required Qualifications

Appreciation for and desire to work with middle school students
Knowledge of early adolescent education and their social/emotional development
Knowledge of teaching Bilingual Speakers and teaching Spanish language and cultures where Spanish is one of the languages used.
Ability to effectively communicate in English and Spanish, both written and verbal, with prospective and current parents and colleagues
Knowledge of the essential role social emotional literacy plays in the workplace and interest in application of SEL within the educational setting
Knowledge of identity safe and anti-bias educational practices
Ability to create an inclusive classroom community that allows for a multitude of perspectives to be heard and respected
Ability to take initiative, work passionately and joyfully, and collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies
Willingness to be a team player, show initiative, and take on leadership roles as needed
A passionate commitment to creating an innovative, joyful environment for students
Understanding of differentiated learning techniques
Flexibility
Excellent interpersonal skills
Organizational skills and the ability to multitask
Knowledge of educational technology to support teaching and learning

In addition to required qualifications, desirable additional skills include:

Bachelor of Arts or Science degree and/or professional coursework or certification, indicating training applicable to the responsibilities of the position
Nuanced understanding of DEI/social justice knowledge from a personal or programmatic perspective
