Overview: Northern Light School (NLS) is an independent, coeducational school serving students in Preschool to 8th grade. Our mission is to provide an empowering education for children from all cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Our small class sizes (capped at 20) ensure that students have the opportunity to practice problem solving, collaboration, and inquiry-based learning, while expressing their knowledge in creative and critical ways. Opportunity: Northern Light School is seeking an experienced, passionate, and engaged Kindergarten Teacher to join our diverse learning community for the current academic year and beyond. The position is full-time and offers a salary range of
$67,000-$86,000 (commensurate with experience), along with a comprehensive benefits package. The Kindergarten Teacher reports to the Head of School and work in close collaboration with administrative staff and other classroom teachers.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelors Required, Masters Degree in Education Preferred
• 2+ years of teaching Kindergarten – 2nd grade classes
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Familiarity with child development and teaching in diverse schools

General Duties and Responsibilities:
• Create lessons for each class that support inquiry, discovery, and child-centered learning
• Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social
development such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling
• Use available technology and instructional media to enhance students’ learning experiences
• Differentiate instruction for students based on their educational needs and abilities
• Center socio-emotional learning and community-building practices
• Engage parents and guardians in the education of their children
• Foster, monitor, and maintain a safe, positive, and nurturing classroom environment
where students are engaged and demonstrate mutual respect
