Montessori de Terra Linda (MdTL), an independent school in San Rafael serving children 2 years old through 6th grade, is seeking an Assistant Teacher for our Lower Elementary program (6-9 year olds) for the 2025-26 school year.
Start Date: August 12, 2025
Full-Time Position (40 hours/week): 7:30am – 4:00pm M-F

Position Summary:
The Lower Elementary Assistant Teacher provides daily support to the classroom’s AMI-trained Head Teacher in a multi-aged Montessori classroom.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist Head Teacher with basic classroom support
- Share the responsibility for the safety and physical well-being of children at all times
- Be responsible for daily classroom preparation as directed by the Head Teacher
- Various classroom administrative task
- Supervise the yard during playtime
- Cultivate and reinforce positive student behavior
- Model appropriate behavior by demonstrating respect and care towards students and staff at all times
Requirements / Desirables:
- Minimum 2 years teaching/childcare experience preferred
- Montessori experience preferred
- Negative TB test within 4 years
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Available to start August 12, 2025
- Bilingual candidates are especially encouraged to apply — fluent in Spanish and English preferred
