adolescent years by teaching Spanish language classes, leading experiential

About Millennium

We are a middle school (grades 6-8) in San Francisco, California. Our mission is to

guide adolescents through a transformative coming-of-age journey that integrates

students through this period of development. They are committed to anti-racist

practices and strive to dismantle all forms of oppression. They are open, clear, and

timely communicators with students and their families, as well as our colleagues.

Wisdom: Thinking & Planning

Our Guides are not satisfied with a surface-level understanding. They know their

content area and pedagogy, and are also committed to expanding their educational

philosophy and vision. They consider content in the context of the diverse needs of

our students, planning with the needs of all students in mind and shifting in the

moment to ensure our work is relevant and responsive.

Purpose: Delivery & Assessment

Guides apply research-based best practices in our classrooms, providing engaging,

relevant, developmentally appropriate, and effective learning experiences. They give

all students the chance to learn by utilizing a wide range of instructional styles and

technologies, and providing regular feedback and accommodations.Who Thrives as a Millennium Guide?

According to our current team of Guides, educators who thrive at Millennium “build

strong, trusting relationships and create spaces where students feel safe to take risks,

slow down, and grow.”

“We show up fully, balancing care, curiosity, and high expectations while creating
